OUGD603 - Brief 04 - Website, CV & Invoice

Now Charlotte's identity was beginning to take shape, it is time to create concepts for her website. This will include a photography portfolio, a CV that can be viewed when she is looking for an assistant job, her contact details and a link to her Instagram. Charlotte provided a list of websites that she liked the look of and noted aspects of it that she found engaging.

The WWF website had an engaging way of story telling with an interactive bar. This can be replicated in a way that would suit Charlottes line of work. - http://assets.wwf.org.uk/custom/foodstory/

Orange Sprocket uses interactive thumbnails, when the mouse hovers over an image, the information overlaid on top disappears so the user can view the work. It is a good example of displaying work with interaction and making a website more engaging. - http://www.orangesprocket.com/views/agency

Evoenergy also uses an interactive site, as the mouse moves around certain parts of the page will react to it. - https://www.evoenergy.co.uk/uk-energy-guide/

Species in Pieces uses animated graphics, when learning about each species the animals forms into the next. - http://species-in-pieces.com/#

Innocent has a clear and simple layout, using tiles that interact when a mouse hovers over them. - https://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/

Natalie Christensen's site is a good example of a clean layout that does not distract from the photography. - https://nataliechristensenphoto.com/

This photographer's site views nicely on mobile format. It will be important to ensure the website will be viewed properly on all formats and devices. - https://www.codycobb.com/

Benjamin's site uses a similar layout to Instagram on desktop. Considered a professional layout, it is clean and clear to view work. - http://www.bejamin.gallery/

Luca Tombolini's website is also a good example of photography work displayed clearly. - http://www.lucatombolini.net/

Initial wire framing took place to establish a simple navigation. This will create emphasis on the photography work that is being exhibited. An easy user experience will greatly affect the websites traffic and flow. It is important to make all projects easy to navigate through.

Some initial layout concepts were worked on once the wire framing was completed. Layouts for the navigation through the portfolio and when viewing the work were sketched up before being put into practice digitally.

Adobe XD was used to mock up digitally how the website will look.

The navigation menu continues Charlotte's typeface throughout keeping the white theme and minimal design strong. A minimal design ensures the photography work is not distracted from.

The landing page will use a slideshow to demonstrate Charlotte's work with her surname in use as a navigation menu, again with Charlotte's chosen typeface.

To continue the identity throughout Charlotte's material, the landing page design has been continued through to her CV and invoice.
