OUGD603 - Brief 06 - Development

Once the printing process was complete, the appropriate artwork was chosen for each sleeve. This process was done by listening to each track that was originally chosen and picking out the artwork that heightened the emotional feeling. They were then pitched to a feedback group to see if they were appropriate.

Hybrid Theory

Meteora

Minutes To Midnight

A Thousand Suns

LIVING THINGS

The Hunting Party

One More Light

Applying the appropriate type, with the correct composition was then required. Type also has the ability to communicate a specific tone of voice, so achieving the correct type was a challenge. Certain typefaces communicated the anger that the songs portray, and some suited the artwork. A variety of Linkin Park's logos were also added to give them context.

Keeping the type black compliments the artwork for this sleeve. The typeface, Coda Heavy, feels punchy and communicates the frustration.

The typeface chosen in this cover, Franchise Bold, communicates an anger, and kept white compliments the artwork.

The typeface used for this cover, Great Lakes NF, creates the feeling of sorrow.

Cooper Hewitt Italic creates an energy for this cover, the song this cover was designed for is motivational.

The Living Things typeface, KiloGram, is aggressive and applying it at angles into the artwork complimented the emotions it is communicating.

Six Caps is a thin and sharp typeface, and a contrast to the Linkin Park Logo, contributing to the cover looking aggressive.

The artwork for this cover is busy, and already communicates a lot of emotion. Because this is the last album released before Chester Bennington's death, it felt appropriate to leave it without type.
