My team and I noted down lots of ideas and
thoughts on Help Link that we thought would be useful to us before going away
and rebranding the company. Here is an image of the ideas that we noted down.
To begin rebranding Help Link, I decided to
sketch out some ideas of what the new logo could look like. In my sketches I
experimented with composition and visual elements such as links and physically
linking parts of type together to play on the word “link”.
After this initial experimentation I
decided to move on from focusing on the link element as I felt it didn’t really
have much to do with a boiler company. And so I decided to focus on the element
of a boiler company bringing warmth to a home. So I experimented with ways of
making the type look like it was glowing. This however made the type difficult
to read so I did not think I would take this experiment any further.
Next I decided to digitally develop my
initial ideas but experiment more with the different fonts that I was allocated
to use. I decided that Helvetica and Futura where much more inviting fonts as
they are simple and look modern. I experimented with different boldness and
decided that a light font was more inviting than a bold font.
After initially experimenting with type, my
team and me tried to bring together all of our best ideas to create our logo.
And so with the best elements from everyone’s experiments we brought together
these two ideas.
After much debate we decided to settle with
this logo as it reads easier and looks much more appealing.
