OUGD406 - Studio Brief 01 - Secret 7"

After experimenting with photography and illustration I wanted to experiment with paint. Having just recently been inducted with mono printing I decided to experiment with this process.

There are many album covers which use paint in their designs. One particular designer, Jack Vanzet, has used paint swirl in a number of designs. This style of paint makes for a visually interesting piece and includes a variety of colour. experiments with paint can be easily manipulated digitally to add an interesting aesthetic.

With this style of production I created a series of mono prints which captured the energy of one of the songs I chose to create a cover for.

With these mono prints I have created a variety of designs which would work for a cover. I have experimented with blending options and composition as well as using shape. These designs are all engaging and I think are the most successful of my designs so far.

After experimenting with the mono prints I decided to try and recreate a similar style of design digitally using the sound waves. The end result is interesting but not as engaging or experimental as I had hoped the end result to be.
