OUGD406 - Secret 7" Feedback and Final Designs

Of my designs, I found that the feedback group found my photography work more engaging than my illustrative work. I received positive feedback with the image of the cream pot, one of my final designs. I had many suggestions to play with the light  levels in order to give the cream more shadow which makes the image visually more intriguing. I received comments like: "The design has an air of an unfinished story about it, it looks like a scene interrupted and this is always intriguing to a viewer." "The negative space and two tone image makes the sleeve really stand out." These comments are positive and the reason I have chosen this as one of my final designs.

The image of the mobile phone in front of a blue background was positively received and many people liked it with a simple square surrounding the phone. One suggestion that was made was to turn the white square into the little focus feature that is found on digital cameras. This contrasts with the blue and makes and interesting and engaging design. Many people liked this design and I received comments such as: "the composition is very good".

I received positive feedback from my monoprinted designs. After experimenting heavily with them I managed to narrow down a few final designs with my feedback. Many people liked the circular design as it was clean and simple, however they would of liked to see a little more texture in the cream colour. With this feedback I placed a light texture from my mono prints over the top and blended it into the cream colour.

Many people liked my more illustrative designs. I received comments such as: "the illustration style is individual and bold. The colours contrast well against each other and the dynamic composition works well." "This design looks quirky and modern." When designing this cover, feedback helped with the composition of the piece and positioning each individual illustration. For me however, I feel as though it is not one of my strongest designs but I have included it as one of my finals as it is different from the rest and many people liked it.

My final design is a simple sleeve covered in fur. This design was positively received in my feedback group and I received comments such as: "The use of fur is a good idea and engages the viewer." "Fur is always a crowd pleaser, it's tactile and physically engaging."
