OUGD404 - Studio Brief 02 - Final Outcome

I am happy with my final 10 double paged spread publication. I chose to print onto bulky newsprint and use a matt white card stock for the cover. This composition makes the design engaging for a reader and different from generic glossy magazines. I decided to use a pamphlet stitch to bind my magazine as it gives the publication a tone of voice that demonstrates care and thought into the design choice.

Once I had printed my publication I cropped and folded it using the folding tool. This is the first time I used the folding tool, however it was very simple to use and got on with it. Using a valley fold made the binding process a lot easier.

I would however change the way I played out my text. I did ask for feedback about drop caps, however I am unsure about using indents. I feel I could of demonstrated the use of columns and instead of using indents just started a new line. I debated whether or not to use subheadings but decided against it as each body of text is quite small so I stuck to normal headings. I am however, happy with the format of my photos. I chose against following the guttering so the photos were flush against the edge.

Using Indesign for my publication allowed me to design the magazine without having to worry about which pages need to be lined up with which when printing. Indesign gives you the option to print the booklet. The software then organises the pages for printing.
