There are many methods to produce complex patterns for banknotes. A guilloche, is a spirograph pattern which I want to look into. I could produce a design using a spirograph set. A spirograph set will produce mathematical roulette curves. It is common that the production of these patterns aren't always perfect. It is this small error in a complex pattern that creates a uniqueness for the pattern. This uniqueness would be difficult to forge and a security feature in itself.
Many bank notes have been designed to celebrate something specific. Particularly The millennium designs for the New Zealand banknote. This particular banknotes use of blue I find very engaging as its a pleasing tone of colour. The Hong Kong, designed a millennium bank note as well and used an engaging tone of purple.
The idea of celebrating an event would make an interesting design and will help inform my design decisions. When looking into the New Zealand's bank notes it took to my attention that there is an ongoing debate on changing their flag to truly separate themselves of influence from the UK. This would be an interesting subject to redesign a bank note for.
