OUGD504 - Studio Brief 01 - Critique

The two of my proposals were presented and critiqued by a group of designers. The first idea is a coffee table style book that celebrates the art form of hand rendered chalk type.

Many people felt that this idea would be successful, however were more interested in a publication with function. The second idea is a hand book displaying inspiration for cafe owners and workers to create their own chalk type. This idea was also preferred in the crit session and received great feedback and ideas that could be included in the publication.

These ideas included:

Contacting actual chalk type creators to give some advice and quotes to include in the book
Include an educational section that educates the reader how to form the actual letter
Think about including a practice section

This crit was successful and showed that the concept will be popular and successful if executed to a high standard. Now that the idea has been finalised, the physical aspects of this brief can be planned and considered.
