OUGD503 - Studio Brief 02 - Packaging Development

The first development involved giving the packaging a type treatment. Because of ease of production of the company, they asked for no special design finishes such as foiling. So the type had to be digitally printed. The company had also provided a variety of logos and slogans that they wanted to be included on the packaging so these were experimented with and developed into a type treatment. The typography was experimented with on the sleeve and various layouts were presented to the group.

Once the pattern puzzle pieces had been completed, they were applied to the packaging with the type treatment. A variety of Emily and Jenny's patterns were placed onto an initial concept design for the sleeve.

The group felt that the first concept wasn't very strong. The type treatment was unbalanced and the puzzle pieces were too big and it felt too busy and cluttered. As a group we decided that the puzzle pieces should be smaller and incorporate more white space into the sleeve to make sure it feels like a high quality product. The group all greed to keep the brands original logo on the front as the type treatments weren't working and weren't very legible.

Rosie started to develop the final design for the sleeve packaging using the feedback given to the group. She managed to develop a final design using the smaller puzzle pieces and the logo type that was required by the brief to be included on the design.
