OUGD503 - Studio Brief 03

This module proved a challenge to me as there were multiple deadlines to meet. It was a challenge to work around the deadlines and ensure I would get the work done on time. I learnt the importance of time planning because the final stage of the module was last minute. I have had to rush this submission and miss out on producing design boards for Studio brief 02 which will affect my overall grade.

Working to smaller briefs was enjoyable for me, I enjoyed working quickly on smaller briefs. The Dave project gave me the opportunity to expand on the claymation experience which is a technique I have been keen to experiment with. I was successful with one of my briefs the Stratford Literary Festival was shortlisted and I was really proud of my final outcome for this project. It gave me the opportunity to expand on my editorial skills. I learnt more about book cloth and the process of printing onto the material. I also managed to experiment with foiling which was unsuccessful for me. More experimentation with this print method in the future will improve my skills for this print method and I am keen to do so.

Working in a collaborative group was of huge benefit. It demonstrated the possibilities of being able to work with different disciplines and spreading a workload. Because the workload was spread it didn't take as long to complete. It was also beneficial to have many eyes looking on the project as the feedback during development was constant.

This brief has proved quite a challenge for me because time management is not a strong point for me. I found it very difficult to manage my time with other projects I also had running along side from different modules and this is a major part of my practice I am going to have to work on. I have disappointed myself with my time management and haven't managed to meet personal deadlines and I feel it has effected my quality of work.
