OUGD505 - Studio Brief 02 - Website Initial Layout and Feedback

A website will be the main part of this campaign, it will be the main source of information for all ages to find out more and get engaged with the campaign. It will need to hold information about events the campaign are holding and the main intentions of the campaign as well as any groups who support it. The content will be very important a plan was sketched which can be used as a wireframe for the site.

Using current trends in sites that are aimed at the target audience, the information was laid out on one page that can be scrolled through. Some of the ideas involved the use of colour in different techniques and a mixture of colour is used to ensure there is no political bias. The use of square shapes has been continued throughout the designs to enforce the square logo. The typeface Gotham is in use as this was considered the most friendly and approachable typeface so it was used in the logo and throughout the website.

The information gained from the research was used in the design making the site full of facts to ensure the viewers are fully aware of the effect the campaign is aiming to achieve.

After creating the initial layouts they were presented to a feedback group, which included a 16 year old. They all agreed the use of colour would be more engaging to 16-18 year olds however not to use to much colour as it may appear too childish. A few felt that the layout was confusing and preferred a central layout. Feedback from the actual target audience suggested introducing interactive parts to the website to keep the audience even more engaged. The feedback group also felt there was far too much copy text on the main page and it would be good to split the information a little.
