OUGD603 - Brief 07 - Secret 7" Notes from Songs

The first process involved making notes to each track whilst listening to them, and making further notes after reading the meanings behind the songs. The following are notes taken from each song that will be channelled into idea generation.

London Grammar - Help

life preserver/floating ring
he stands between us
he chose to save
someone who is leading astray
being lost
The Clash - I’m Not Down

staying strong
no matter what tries to get you down, keep at it
comment on the rich, don’t know what life is like without wealth
is there any meaning of life?
what is the point in life if no one leaves anything behind
Jeff Buckley - Lover You Should’ve Come Over

struggling with a break up
choosing not to see the part parts of a relationship over the good parts
not having the strength to admit when you are wrong
dealing with the heartbreak
not admitting something is over
the love is always there even after
too young to keep a relationship
to immature to keep a relationship going/to be older comes the acceptance of responsibility
in denial that he has done wrong
a man should stop wondering how it feels to be single because it is always lonely so just get a grip and keep that person you’re closest to
refuses to admit the relationship is over and would give anything to be back with her
Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand

weak structures fall
everything comes to an end
the frailty of life
we dream of things that are unobtainable
Primal Scream - Damaged

one sided relationship
became to obsessive/possessive
when love becomes too much and becomes ugly
Manic Street Preachers - No Surface All Feeling

losing a friend
ashamed of not knowing how to cope with it
not knowing whether to move forward and not look back or to always remember
Eurythmics - I Saved the World Today

leaving
stay with me
not accepting change
thinking your problems aren’t big enough
keeping snuggles to yourself
