OUGD404 - Study Task 07 - What is a book? Folds

In this task I learnt about sizes of publications and folds of small leaflet publications. There are many different ways of folding a publication and it was helpful to learn about them as they all communicate different tones of voice and can effect the layout of one of my designs.

In this particular module, learning about different styles of folds will come in very useful when I produce a publication that contains all of the skills I have learnt in this module as I will produce a small leaflet which will use on of these folds.

To demonstrate one of these folds, the roll fold, I have created a small publication that demonstrates the fold itself and explains how it is done. 

To plan my publication I simply created a mock up on an A4 piece of paper to understand how to design my fold publication and how it would all come together.

I then designed it in illustrator before printing it off as a final piece. Through this exercise I have learned the importance of mocking up a publication that uses folds to make sure elements fit together if they are being split up by a fold.

There are many other examples of different types of folds that can be used.
