OUGD406 - Secret 7 Research - Illustrated Covers

Some album covers used an illustrated style. I like the use of simple line drawings with coloured shape. This design would work well for the two songs I am designing for. This style is captivating and intriguing. Often the simplest naive types of illustration are more engaging than life-like illustrations.

This album cover for Chet Faker's 1998 and Bend, mirror the music video for 1998. The video is animated with simple line drawings and rhythmic use of colour. The use of minimal colour and minimal lines is engaging and a method of design I will experiment with.

This cover for The Antlers' Hospice, uses a striking red background and two simply illustrated hands. This design catches the eye through its use of colour. The image is related to the title: hospice, as a hospital ID bracelet is around the wrist of one of the hands.

This style of illustration is captivating and successful amongst many covers. And a style that I am going to experiment with.
