OUGD504 - Studio Brief 01 - Critique

This crit session was incredibly useful. Many people felt that the overall concept was successful and there is definitely a target audience and market that this concept suitably fits.

The most constructive feedback focused on the typeface choice. Originally a sans-serif typeface was chosen as, due to the high volume of digital screens and type being digitally displayed, the argument that serif typefaces are easier to read is obsolete. However, many people felt that a serif type face would bring the content together, a serif typeface will look softer on a white stock. One person suggested looking into a more colloquial choice of type face.

Due to the use of black and white mock prints, many people were unsure about the use of the letter example being displayed on the page. The final style hasn't been developed yet and many people felt that using a shadow or a silhouette. This part of the publication needs further experimentation.

Everyone agreed the binding method was appropriate due to the use of full bleed images. They all felt that the method to determine the size of the book was well justified and all agreed that the size is functional. This crit was hugely constructive and will benefit the production of the publication.
