OUGD504 - Studio Brief 02 - Idea Development

After reviewing the research, a number of positives and negatives from all the platforms where listed out in order to start developing a successful concept. In order to determine what will make this interface the most successful experience for a user, it must avoid the aspects that are unsuccessful and cause a negative experience from the platforms that were researched into.

There are many aspects of these platforms that have both positive features in both aesthetics and function. Remembering the users location is a useful feature, automatically filtering events by city or region making the experience for the user quick and simple. Not many of the current interfaces allow the user to set more than one automatic location. The target audience for this app, 18 to 25, are more likely to be students traveling between cities to see friends or go home in holidays and will want to be able to browse events in places they are often visiting.

Making the user go through a simple registering guide when first opening the app prevents the user from frustratingly having to register after having already spent time browsing and finding a ticket to purchase. Allowing an option to sign in with Facebook allows the user to create an account without having to type in their email and other details. Many online features require an account to be made and often it can be frustrating having so many accounts its hard to keep on top of them all.

Syncing the interface with other applications, such as PayPal or Apple Pay as well as Spotify or the users music app, allows the user to use an interface which automatically tailors itself to the user's likes and dislikes which can then accurately suggest events. This option isn't available across all the interfaces requiring the user to know what they're searching for which can become difficult when looking for new events. Not all tickets are sold within the interfaces and the tickets available are often a variety of e-tickets, which have to be viewed by the user on their mobile device or printed, or posted to the users address. Being able to view the ticket within the interface would prevent the user from experiencing hassle when it comes to actually attending the event.

None of the interfaces offered the option of sending direct notifications when tickets are released to certain events which can cause frustration when the user misses out in buying tickets as they will sell out too fast.

Of all the key aspects, a basic wire framing mobile application concept has been drafted to get an idea of how the application will function. A mobile application is the most appropriate platform of user interface in order to achieve the function of alerting the user and being able to view the tickets to enter an event. Mobile devices are also most successful at syncing with location and crete a more personal experience with the user.
