To animate, Dragonframe was used. this software is used by big claymation studios such as Aardman and Robot Chicken. The software was available from the college and I was able to hire out a laptop to animate at home. To ensure the lighting was at a professional standard, a lighting kit was also hired out. A small setting was created using a black backdrop to suit the blackboard backdrop that the Dave branding uses in their title cards.
After the setting and characters were set up, the equipment was set up for filming. Using the Dragonframe software, the two characters were animated watching their own show. The lighting equipment allowed for professional lighting, however the live view was difficult to use and I couldn't use the onion skinning capability because of the high aperture on the camera, however Dragonframe provides a high quality view that meant I could see what I was doing.
After the animation had been captured, it was exported to a video format, with the frames exported as high quality jpegs which allowed me to successfully edit in post production.
